Biomarkers and ultrasound to minimise preventable stillbirth: the BUMPS study
Better detection of impaired fetal growth could prevent many cases of stillbirth.
Dr Lucy Bartho is a Postdoctoral Researcher in the Translational Obstetrics Group at the University of Melbourne. She was awarded her PhD in December 2021 at Griffith University, investigating the role of mitochondria in the placenta from healthy and complicated pregnancies.
Her current research focuses on discovering novel biomarkers to predict pregnancy complications, term preeclampsia and fetal growth restriction using omics technologies (lipidomics, metabolomics, aptamer-based proteomics). She has contributed to organising conferences, leading scientific committees, reviewing for academic journals. She is also part of professional societies, such as IFPA, SRB, and ANZPRA and is actively involved in supervising and mentoring higher degree research students.
