The Mercy Perinatal Australian Reproduction Update is a two-day educational conference for clinicians and scientists working in reproductive biology.

Each year, we have a stellar lineup of invited speakers from across Australia who are leading the way for reproductive scientists and clinicians, and 2024 will be no different!

Our theme in 2024 is “The Greatest Show; Perseverance, Innovation and Equality in Reproduction”. The program is tailored to appeal to the clinical Reproductive Medicine Specialist wanting to hear about cutting-edge research that might change the way they practice their art, a scientist wanting to take that next big leap, a research nurse/midwife hoping to hear the latest research to improve reproduction outcomes, or the clinician interested in the latest scientific and clinical advances. Assisted reproductive technologies Advancing pregnancy research and care. We will hear from experts in Assisted Reproductive Technologies and have a close look at improving fertility. We will hear about the latest scientific and technological breakthroughs that promise to revolutionise pregnancy research and care. We will put a lens over women’s health inequitiy and how we can enhance equality in Australia and beyond. Finally, we will focus on the baby - looking at fetal surgery advances and the impact of preterm birth on long-term outcomes.

Along with our list of stellar invited speakers, we will again open up abstract submissions to give some of Australia’s best early career researchers and students the opportunity to present their innovative research in dedicated oral presentation sessions.

Abstracts

We welcome abstract submissions with a focus on gametes, the embryo, implantation, the placenta and pregnancy. In order to showcase new and emerging talents from around Australia, we are limiting these sessions to research students and early postdoctoral candidates.

Conference Venue

In 2024, the Australian Reproduction Update will be in-person and held over two days at the Woodward Conference Centre, The University of Melbourne on Monday 5th August and Tuesday 6th August 2024.

The Woodward Conference Centre, is located on the top floor of the Melbourne Law School in Carlton, on the outskirts of the Melbourne CBD. It has sweeping views of campus and over North, West, and Southern Melbourne.

Getting there:

By Public Transport 🚊

  • From Flinders Street station, take the number 19 tram (toward Coburg) or 59 tram (toward Airport West) up Elizabeth Street, Melbourne. Get off at stop 9, Haymarket/Elizabeth Street. You will need to walk about 250m down Pelham St to reach your destination.
  • From Spencer Street Station, take any tram up Bourke Street, heading towards Parliament House. Get off at Elizabeth Street and follow the directions above.

By Car 🚗

  • If you are driving, Melbourne University’s car park can be entered from 244 Bouverie St or entrance at 206 Berkeley St (just off Grattan Street). This car park is occasionally closed to the public from 9:30am, so ensure you get in early. Parking rates will be confirmed closer to the date. Exiting the car park from the lifts, you will need to walk across the University Square Park to the conference centre.
  • There are a number of metered car parks on Royal Parade and Grattan Street.
  • Secure Parking is available on Royal Parade.

Cyclists 🚲

  • Local bicycle facilities include bike lanes that run along Rathdowne, Pelham and Queensbury streets. Bicycle parking can be found scattered along these streets, and there is limited bicycle parking directly out in front of the building.

Conference Dinner

Each year we enjoy the company of our speakers, organisers and delegates at a local Melbourne venue to enjoy some food, drinks and great company!

Our conference dinner will be held on Monday, 5th August 2024 at one of Melbourne’s iconic venues nearby - TBC.

Please join us. The dinner tickets will be on sale soon and can be purchased either individually or combined in the registration – but get in quick as we will have limited numbers – and you definitely DON’T want to miss the dinner.
