Rangi is a Senior Research Fellow and Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist at the Mercy Hospital for Women.
Biography
Rangi is a Mercy Perinatal Senior Research Fellow andn Obstetrician and Gynaecologist based at the Mercy Hospital for Women. She has a long-standing passion for global health, community empowerment and education. She has worked in Indigenous communities in Groote Eylandt and the Katherine region of the NT, and as volunteered in her home country of Sri Lanka, as well as Uganda and Tanzania.
Rangi’s most recent volunteer work was in the Solomon Islands where she was an Australian Volunteer as part of the Australian Volunteers Program in 2018. She completed her PhD based at the Mercy Hospital for Women through the University of Melbourne, focusing on perinatal morbidity and mortality in the Asia-Pacific region. She hopes to be able to incorporate research, public policy, and education into her career in global women’s health in the future.
Rangi is also the co-host of “Prepare”, the Mercy Perinatal podcast dedicated to helping parents prepare for the journey of pregnancy, childbirth, and early parenthood. You can listen to the podcast here.
