Biography

Melissa has a post-graduate diploma in Genetic Counselling and a Bachelor of Social Work. She has been working as a genetic counsellor for over 20 years and has a central role in the Perinatal Medicine and Genetics Services at the Mercy Hospital. Melissa provides essential support and pre pregnancy counselling for couples with a high chance of a genetic condition in their offspring, as well as support for those experiencing unexpected news regarding the development of their baby during pregnancy. Melissa is a fellow of the Human Genetics Society of Australasia and is a lecturer for the Master of Genetic Counselling Course. She also sits on the Master of Genetic Counselling (MGC) Professional Advisory Committee.
