It’s a ‘not to miss’ Twilight: ‘Gestational Diabetes at Twilight’.
We have had so much feedback that you would really like a session dedicated to GDM, so here it is! A star studded line up to answer all your questions about obstetrics decision making, glucose targets, monitoring and support, and the place of pharmacotherapy.
1. Firstly, we will kick off with a consumer who is going to tell it like it is: the patient perspective on a diagnosis of GDM from Caroline Zielinski. Known to many of you as a journalist, on Wednesday night she is here to give us the patient perspective on GDM. Something for all of us to reflect on.
2. ‘Obstetric decisions in Gestational Diabetes: surveillance, monitotring, timing of birth’ . A/Prof Alexis Shub is an MFM specialist and University of Melbourne clinical academic. She heads up the Diabetes clinic at Mercy Perinatal and is an expert on what the evidence does, and doesn’t support! Be prepared to be surprised!!
3. ‘Targets and treatments in GDM’: Many of you will remember the brilliant talk Dr Sarah Price, Head of Obstetric Medicine, RWH, gave us on Obesity in Pregnancy last year. Well- she’s back to make everything clear in the area of glucose targets, and the place of diet, oral medication and insulin in the management of GDM.
4. ‘From prenatal diagnosis until postnatal follow up: the role of the Diabetes Educator in supporting women manage GDM’. All of us would be lost without our Diabetes Educators to support us and our patients. On Wednesday, we are delighted to have Cecily Foged to walk us through the crucial role of the Diabetes Educator, and share any critical ‘messages in a bottle’ she would like us and our patients to know.
As always, we’ll then wrap up with a few quick highlights from the obstetric medicine literature, and then over to you for questions!
So something for everyone. Definitely not to be missed! Twilight’s free and always will be, but please register below 👇….. for NEXT WEDNESDAY 10th MAY, 6:00pm
