Our speakers and topics
It's time to Spring into Twilight!! 🌷 Our next Fetal Medicine at Twilight seminar will be held WEDNESDAY, September 6th 6:00pm - 8:00pm, and for this session, we are tackling the cracking topic 'Critical Care @ Twilight'.
The increasing number of women who come into pregnancy with complex medical conditions, plus the all-too-familiar life-threatening complications of pregnancy means our critical care colleagues are essential to providing high quality care. Critical care has transformed rates of survival in sepsis, major haemorrhage, multi organ failure and severe preeclampsia. We are not all intensivists, but we all need to recognise the patient who needs resuscitation and critical care. And for women admitted to ICU when still pregnant, how do we weigh up the risks and benefits of premature delivery in the maternal interest?
So- Next Wednesday will be a very special Twilight indeed where all will be made clear at 'Critical Care @ Twilight’. Read below what we have in store! 👇
- Prof Sue Walker AO will cover 'Managing the pregnant and recently pregnant ICU patient'
- 'Help us help you keep patients out of ICU': Dr Andrew Robinson, Director of Anaesthesia - Mercy Hospital for Women, will walk us through resuscitation in pregnancy, managing critical complications and 'who needs an anaesthetic review?'
- Finally, we are honoured to have Dr Andrew Casamento- one of the leading intensivists at Austin Health- join us. Andrew leads maternal critical care at Austin Health, also responsible for reporting deaths and major maternal morbidity to CCOPMM. Andrew will be taking a case based approach to this session- sharing what ICU has to offer our patients.
Then, it’s over to you as our panel answer your questions!
As you can see, this Twilight has something for everyone who provides pregnancy care- physicians, GPs, midwives and obstetricians. Twilight’s free and always will be, but please register.
