Lisa is a maternal fetal medicine specialist with special interests in prenatal diagnosis and congenital infections. She was awarded a Norman Beischer Clinical Research Fellowship to help reduce the burden of congenital cytomegalovirus (cCMV) Infection through Education, Serology and Evaluation (the ESE-CMV study). She is delighted to be hosting tonight's seminar during CMV awareness month.
Prof David Baud, MD PhD, is an obstetrician, specialist in feto-maternal medicine and is presently head of the obstetric service at the Lausanne University Hospital (CHUV), Switzerland. His current research focuses on emerging infectious causes of infertility and adverse pregnancy outcomes. Thanks to his clinical expertise in fetal medicine, research expertise in emerging infectious disease and collaborations worldwide, he has also developed a specific interest in emerging viruses (such as Monkeypox, SARS-CoV-2 and Zika), with recent publications in the NEJM, The Lancet, The Lancet Infectious Disease, JAMA and BMJ. Baud’s research groups are both involved in clinical and laboratory research.
Prof Bill Rawlinson AM is a Senior Medical Virologist and the Director of Virology at South Eastern Sydney and Illawarra Health Service. He is Director of the Area virology reference laboratory, a virology clinical trials unit, the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) licensed laboratory testing organs donors for blood borne viruses, and the virology research laboratory.
Léo Pomar is Associate Professor in the midwifery programme of the University of Health Sciences of Lausanne (HESAV, Lausanne, Switzerland). As midwife specialised in ultrasound and fetal medicine, with a MSc in Fetal Physiopathology and a PhD in Life Sciences, he is a clinical expert in fetal brain anomalies and congenital infections at Lausanne University Hospital (CHUV, Lausanne, Switzerland). His expertise in fetal neurology, epidemiology and perinatal infectious diseases has led him to teach and direct research activities in these fields. His publications on Zika virus, SARS-CoV-2, Toxoplasmosis, Cytomegalovirus and other emerging pathogens during pregnancy are considered as references in the field.
